Skin Lightener

Maybe this is just a fad or so, but a lot of people have been presenting such an avid interest in skin lightener products. And this goes for men as well, for it’s not just women who have been buying such products.

But before you rush out to buy your own array of skin lightener products, be sure to know the latest available information about such products. For there just might be something negative about certain dark skin lightener products.

For years now, hydroquinone, which is the main component of skin lightener products, has been known as safe to use. In fact, it is the standard component of hydroquinone skin lightener products. And it has also been used to treat skin conditions, such as hyper pigmentation, age spots, sun damage, melasma, and other skin discolorations. But recent skin lightener reviews have started to mark hydroquinone skin lightener products as unsafe to use. This is because recent studies show that the use of such a skin lightener might prove more harmful than helpful to its users. Long-term usage of hydroquinone skin lightener products can cause serious side effects, as deemed by researchers. Thus, the FDA itself has announced the recall of skin lightener products that have hydroquinone as their main ingredient. Although such skin lightener products can still be used, they would be limited only to prescription use.

Because of this, a lot of skin lightener companies have been exerting efforts into developing a product that can mimic the effects of hydroquinone skin lightener products, minus the harmful side effects of course. The aim here is to come up with such a product that would act as an all natural skin lightener, which is safer to use. And other alternatives have indeed been discovered.

For starters, there’s Alpha Arbutin. This skin lightener product is sold in powder form, and is water-soluble. Alpha Arbutin is known to be one of the most advance products in the world market. Plus, recent studies show that this ingredient can be used effectively on all skin types. The only disadvantage here is that the production of the ingredient itself costs a lot of money. With production costs so high, you can only imagine how expensive the finished product would be.

Then there’s Beta-Arbutin. This can actually be thought of as an herbal skin lightener, because Beta-Arbutin is extracted from bearberry plants. What this herbal skin lightener actually does is it inhibits the activity of tyrosinase. With such an inhibition comes a skin lightening effect, although it is not as intense an effect as Alpha Arbutin. But the advantage here is that Beta-Arbutin is not that expensive to produce. So, the finished product should not be as costly as its counterpart.

Another famous alternative is Kojic acid. Ironically, this acid is taken from a fungus, with the effects of preventing the production of the skin’s brown pigment. This brown pigment is better known as melanin. With Kojic acid, you can definitely say that you have a skin lightener natural product in your hands.

Licorice plant is another natural skin lightener. Its active ingredient, being glabridin, also inhibits tyrosinase activity. Thus, an effect of skin brightening would most likely occur. Also, studies show that the licorice plant is not toxic to the cells responsible for producing melanin. Thus, this natural skin lightener is indeed very safe to use.

With these many all natural skin lightener alternatives, just take your pick at which ever catches your fancy! To be on the safe side, you can also consult your dermatologist to determine what would be the most appropriate skin lightener product is for you. But these have been proven to be safe, so there should be not much problem in using them at all.
