Mary Kay

In designer jeans, there is Gucci. In the realm of cosmetics, there is Mary Kay.

But in fairness to designer brand names such as Gucci or Mary Kay, there is always this level of quality that must be met in each product. Mary Kay cosmetics did not become a prestigious brand name only because of the business acumen of Mary Kay Ash, the founder of Mary Kay, but also of the exceptional line of cosmetic products that could have endeared so many for decades.

Upon starting out, Mary Kay Cosmetics had formulated the original nine of the skin care products from a recipe acquired from a tanner whose skin was way younger and smoother than his age would indicate. This comes as a surprise, as anyone would have reflected that these skin care substances would have been products of rigorous lab testing. But suffice to say, this products sold. Some of the products are reformulated according to geographical location since consumers needs tend to differ according to region. Such as dark skin people would like to whiten the skin; conversely fair skin people would like to have a darker skin tone. Asian makeup offers more whitening to allow a more glowing countenance, and western make up has more color in them. Local laws, aside from consumer preferences are also met, like in Africa. Mary Kay makeups for release in Africa generally contain more ochre, shade of orange and brown colors. And since women were mostly the clients of Mary Kay, the company then introduced colors that are more appealing to the female sex. In a short while, Mark Kay officially adopted the color pink as the company’s motif.

Sadly though, the brand name Mary Kay is riddled with controversy. One of the most heated was the Woolf vs. Mary Kay Cosmetics. Ms Woolf was a director who was terminated due to the grounds that Woolf’s unit failed to make production in the slotted time, three months to be exact. Woolf defense was that the termination was seen illegal since during that time; Ms Woolf was suffering from cancer. There was also the 90-Day Clause issue, where several of the Mary Kay consultants were terminated as they were called to serve the US military in Iraq. And then there is also the issue pertaining to pyramid scheme, where consultants are goaded to increase sales or else recruit more sales representatives.

Even then, Mary Kay is still one of the best selling brands of prestigious cosmetics. A good number of their products are highlighted a number of times in health and beauty journals. Here are some of the best-known Mary Kay cosmetics skin care products.

The TimeWise Age Fighting Skin Care Series

Mary Kay’s anti aging formulation, the TimeWise Age-Fighting Eye Cream, is deigned to revitalize the delicate skin surrounding your eye, keeping it more supple and taut, preventing sagging and tiredness. By being a very gentle humectant, the TimeWise Age-Fighting Eye Cream peels away the outermost layers of the skin surrounding the eye, but does this very gently. By removing the outmost dead skin, it facilitates the growth of new skin, easing out wrinkles.

There is also the Mary Kay skin care product in the TimeWise category that protects, revitalize and moisturizes the skin in your face. With the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 15, what it does is protect the skin of your face from harm due to overexposure to UV. As a moisturizer it prevents drying up the face, leaving it supple, fresh and younger looking.

Good or bad, Mary Kay skin care products are featured several times in the popular culture, a testament of the brand name’s popularity. Mary Kay does offer an exceptional line of cosmetic products that had endeared so many.
