Liposuction

There is a fine line between being fat and being voluptuous. The latter is having fat in only all the right places. Being fat is more like a picture as this, when you wake up one morning and suddenly notice that your favorite pair of jeans no longer fit you perfectly. Your arms already start to wobble every time you move it, see unsightly bulges on your thighs and feel your tummy curl out into ugly folds. You just know it just by looking at yourself that you got fat. Being fat is having fat in all the wrong places.

Being fat can be frustrating. It can pose serious complications to your health and can rob you off your self-esteem. What makes it even more frustrating is when you try so hard just to get rid of unwanted body fat but end up realizing that your efforts have but ended in vain. You go through practically all weight loss ways and means - from exercise, crash diets, weight loss pills and creams, even gadgets that promise to burn cellulite and stubborn areas of unwanted body fat – to little or no avail.

But hope springs eternal. Today, more people are getting a can already shed unwanted pounds off their body and get that shapely body they so desire without having to waste too much time, effort and sweat by dieting and exercise.

Also known as liposculpture, liposuction is considered as the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States. It is the instant answer to the problem of fat removal which diet and exercise could not address. Liposuction helps to improve the shape of your body by getting rid of stubborn, unwanted fat from different areas of the body. Common body areas that are usually targeted in a liposuction are on the neck, upper arms, thighs, hips, tummy and back, areas where fat is easily deposited and visibly seen.

Liposuction, however, does not give you a permanent shapely body after the procedure. It only sucks out stubborn and unwanted body fat and does not replace fat cells in your body. It is highly recommended that you eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly in order to maintain your weight after the procedure to keep yourself from getting fat again. Moreover, liposuction is a cosmetic surgery and is not used to treat weight problems such as obesity. A maximum of three liters of body fat is the allowable amount of body fat that can be removed in this procedure, so it may be impossible for you to achieve Paris Hilton’s svelte shape if say, you have Kelly Osbourne’s plump figure.

There are different types of liposuction. Among them are tumescent and ultrasonic. Tumescent liposuction uses very diluted volumes of local anesthesia causing targeted areas to become firm. It is said to be the safest technique among all other liposuction techniques because it promotes speedier recovery and runs a lesser risk of complications. On the other hand, an ultrasonic liposuction uses ultrasonic waves to break a large amount or very stubborn fat in the body, usually in the back area.

Liposuction’s invasive nature will require you to take painkillers after procedure and may take you a considerable period of time to fully recuperate. You may have to keep away from any major physical activity for up to one month. It may also take you several months before you can see the actual results.

If you decide to undergo liposuction, you will need to consider factors to help you carefully decide. Cost of liposuction may let you shoulder a hefty lot. Also, while liposuction is a generally safe surgical procedure, there have been some reported incidents of death due to malpractice and complications, so it would be wise to consult a qualified doctor before giving yourself a go.
