Hypoallergenic Skin Care

If you realized that your skin is adversely reacting to some skin products and somehow showing signs of being irritated or agitated, , then you most probably have sensitive skin.

A sensitive skin is a type of skin that it fine textured and thinner than the usual. It reacts rapidly to both cold and hot, making people with sensitive skin more prone to windburns and sunburns. It is mostly dry, delicate and more prone to allergic reactions. Aside from the weather, there are more factors affecting skin irritation. It can be due to some detergents, alcohol, and even to some cosmetics.

However, what others may not believe is that cosmetics contain ingredients that are virtually harmless to our skin. It is mainly the additives which cause the skin to react. But thanks to the advent of technology, hypoallergenic skin care products are now available. Hypoallergenic skin care cosmetics contain fewer of the ingredients that may cause such adverse reactions.

The biggest misconception about hypoallergenic skin care is that most people believe that they practically contain none of the allergens. But in reality they still do – just in smaller proportions. That’s why the word hypoallergenic doesn’t always translate that it won’t cause reaction because sometimes it still does. For example, if you are allergic to peanuts, and there is still extracts of peanut oil even in a hypoallergenic skin care product, chances are, you would still have allergic reactions.

Unfortunately, the hypoallergenic label is one amongst the label that is not required by the FDA to have proof to back up their claim. Saddening, but true, most companies use this label as a mere marketing strategy. Some even have labels saying dermatologist tested, but would not mention which dermatologist did the testing and even what they tested. So, when choosing the perfect product for your sensitive skin, all you have is your trust towards the manufacturer and a whole lot of instincts.

However, apart from this depressing phenomenon, there are still a lot of reputable companies that really have reduced the number of allergens in their product. This type of businesses relies on people’s trust and giving back quality products. They have earned their public status as a highly regarded company because they deliver, and they deliver with all honesty.

When a doctor says that you are allergic to some cosmetics, you would immediately think that you might get reactions from beauty products, right? Wrong. Cosmetics can also be nail-polish, astringents, and even toothpaste!

If you have sensitive skin and would want to go shopping for cosmetics or better yet hypoallergenic skin care cosmetics, read through the labels carefully. Remember, that too much of a good thing can sometimes be untrue. Do not settle for anything very inexpensive. You can opt for products in the mid-range of price as long as the company has a well established reputation. You can also buy items in little try me sizes so that you wont have to regret if the product doesn’t suit your sensitive skin.

There is no such thing as the best hypoallergenic skin care product, because the contents really are based on the necessary component needed by the cosmetic. However, there will always be an alternative. For example, you are allergic to fluoride, and we all know that every toothpaste needs to contain fluoride even the hypoallergenic ones. You can consult your doctor and they can give you alternatives perhaps brushing with baking soda or specialized no-fluoride toothpaste.

Hypoallergenic skincare goods are rapidly dominating the cosmetic market. Even people with normal skin type would sometimes even opt for hypoallergenic ones. People of today get more and more curious, wanting to have a feel of the newest products selling on TV. Good or bad, nobody can ever tell. However, you can always arm yourself against fraud with tons of knowledge!
