Anti-Cellulite Creams

Do anti-cellulite creams really work? Anti cellulite cream products promising to reduce dimply-looking skin can be very convincing, especially with models showing off well-toned legs, hips, and buttocks. If you've tried anti-cellulite creams previously and had not seen any desirable results, or if you have not tried to use the said products, here's an eye opener for you.

The cellulite problem may be more difficult to rid than what advertisements say. According to a study by Neutrogena, 70 percent of women have cellulite. Even thin women do. Cellulite is more common in women than in men because women's skin are thinner, making it more prominent.

The unfortunate truth is, no creams will ever erase cellulite. In fact, even the editor-in-chief of Allure magazine said all the new products claim to only "help" reduce the appearance of bumpy, dimply skin appearance by plumping the skin to create the appearance of a smoother texture. Anti-cellulite creams cannot do anything else other than that. To achieve better results, though, you may as well choose anti-cellulite creams containing anti-inflammatory, antioxidants, and other natural ingredients that help promote blood flow.

Despite this stark truth about antioxidants, if you're still considering making a purchase, find creams with any of these ingredients: aminophylline, retinol, AHA, caffeine, and herbal cellulite lotion with citric, phytic, a tartaric acids.

Aminophylline anti cellulite cream is used to minimize the effect of cellulite on skin's appearance by breaking down fat cells and converting them into fatty acids. However, this has yet to be proven and its effectiveness is still unknown. Yet, some consumers who used aminophylline creams reported positive results. A word of caution, anti cellulite cream that contains the said chemical should be kept away from heat and expended as quickly as possible.

Retinol, meanwhile, is thought to work against cellulite by penetrating the skin, exfoliating it, and stimulate collagen production to thicken the skin and, therefore, hid the dimpling fat.

Many experts see cellulite as a problem that's more than skin deep. Contrary to what other people think and what has been advertised, many experts have reiterated that cellulite is NOT a fat problem. Therefore, your weight has nothing to do with it even when you try to lose weight. The fat that causes cellulite is different. It dwells within the skin and they cannot be burned like other fats as fuel.

Another point to consider is that many doctors, although they are still uncertain about it, are beginning to think that anatomy and hormones are key for the prevalence of cellulite in women over 35 years. Anatomically, 'septa', which are fibrous tissues that surround fat cells within the skin, seems to cause the appearance of cellulite in older women. In men, septa is diagonal, while it runs a vertical pattern in women.

Many doctors are not convinced that anti-cellulite creams will do anything to ameliorate the appearance, although some have cited that creams containing methylxanthines (an example is caffeine), may work to extract fluids out from the spaces of these fatty deposits below the skin and induce a fat-burning process called lipolysis. One of the hottest-selling anti-cellulite creams is Neutrogena anti-cellulite cream and CelluSculpt Anti-Cellulite Slimming Treatment by Avon.

As mentioned, dieting may not help get rid of cellulite, but a diet rich in nutrients such as lecithin, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants have been found to reduce fluids, cellular inflammation, and stimulate circulation of cells deep in the skin.

Considering that approximately 70 percent of women grapple with the problem, you are not alone, which is causing this rage for anti cellulite creams. Unfortunately, cellulite will seem to stay longer until scientists will be able to innovate a product that effectively gets rid of this problem.
